High School Musical Movie Review

It’s bizarre to discover the things that catch on from time to time. Whilst many might have dismissed High School Musical part 1 when it first aired on television in 2006, there was clearly obviously a passionate audience ready for it. In the couple of years given that, the made for cable tv movie has spawned two sequels, stocked Wal-mart toy aisles with toys and carried some hefty influence in the music recording industry. All that for a film that’s refreshing and engaging but definately not anything all of the hype warrants – unless you’re a pre teen crazily in love with Zac Effron.

Troy (Effron) is a hunky super star belonging to the East High Wildcats basketball team. A leader on as well as off the court, Troy is the popular jock and the centerpiece of a proud school. His love for his sport is definitely questioned after he tries out for the school musical and, surprise, carries a fantastic tone of voice to go with his golden shot. Throw in the beautiful new girlfriend Gabriella (Vanessa Hudgens) and you’ve acquired a complex but absolutely angelic high school heartthrob.

A lot of the story orbits all-around Troy’s tries to appease everyone close to himself while he lives up to his jock appearence, all the while attempting to be his own person as he discovers that concept called performing. Gabriella’s along for the ride, motivating Troy to be him self and rival little princess Sharpay (Ashley Tisdale) is there to do whatever she may to make the golden-voiced jock her personal poodle chauffeur and boy toy.

High School Musical part 1 thrives at being squeaky clean fun, akin to the Bollywood musicals of India where the young man and young lady romantic interests sing throughout the streets however never seem to connect at the lips. There is lots of hands holding, serenades and romantic pleasures but nary a kiss.

For all not really used to the traditional musical structure, High School Musical part 1 may might seem slightly jarring as the songs appear out of nowhere. Framing the story all around a school production enables the storyline to include some of these figures directly into the story. However some of the best songs come out of nowhere, putting everything on temporary stop and opening up to the viewer and providing a number of nifty choreography along the way. All round High School Musical part 1 is a superb musical to watch with the youngsters.
